To be fair, superficial conversations happen when you meet most people, regardless of sex. Ozy, Ozy... Talking about shopping and the children's homework at school is not a superficial conversation for women. It is the very essence of their existence. I take Sartre as a witness.

I don't mean casual. I mean superficial, which for most people equates deep conversation. It doesn't matter whether they discus the weather, soccer or politics, it's all superficial with them (not for them).

You should've heard some of the things Adela Cortina used to say. I mostly avoided her in the post-grade courses, but I still remember the neo-liberal turd she tried to slip us, in the one I did attend. What Stendhal probably didn't envision, was the high price belonging to that group would eventually have to be paid.
I suspect that he actually wrote "for the unhappy few", but that the proofreader touched up this sentence. He wrote that more than once, so hardly a typo. He had aesthetic pleasure in mind, which truly only is enjoyed by a minority, but the social disregard of those against power could not be anticipated by intellectual of old, they were revolutionaries. Nowadays, I have to read in forums how "El Che" was a tyrant, on par with Hitler and Stalin, and no one protests.

Nowadays, I have to read in forums how "El Che" was a tyrant, on par with Hitler and Stalin, and no one protests. Here, when I want to know if a politician is good or bad, I have a look at the media. If everyone accuses him of being an ugly, corrupt tyrant, I tell myself that he is doing something right. Thus, I begin to suspect Stalin of not being as black as people say.
I find that our age, our upbringing, the tradition of where we come from, leaves us "out of step" with the majority, and not just with young people -- although especially with young people. Recently, I was drawn into a conversation that reminded me of all the questions I asked myself thirty years ago, and my boundless ignorance at that time. I felt so sad afterwards.
Meanwhile, I should also start using emojis, to make clear when I am kidding. Like above.

The hell happened in Belgrade today? American culture had been kept at bay (I thought).

The one he did for "The Druan" about derivatives was interesting. I have to invest in something real fast, the Euro isn't going to be worth the paper is printed on, any time now.

I regularly watch a few experts who predict a mega crash of the European economy (and American): Charles Gave, Pierre Jovanovic, etc.
You know what I will write: buy gold. In times of mega-crisis, gold is the only thing that has some value. That's what I would if I had money: 1gr, 2, 5gr, and some napoleons or francois-joseph to be able to sell them in case of need.

I would've liked to buy that 20 years ago, but someone (my mother) insisted I could've problems with our IRS. Actually, if I want to buy e.g. Platinum, which costs more or less the same, I have to pay 21% VAT, but Gold is about the only thing you can buy which is exempt. Problem? It costs four times as much as it did.

My wife changed our savings from Euros to Swiss Francs. I mean... her savings now. Could you do it? But you have to slowly take your money out of your bank... if it is possible at all, since they do everything to stop you from using your money... pardon, the bank's money...
Anyway, try to buy some gold. Several grams at least. Here, the price has doubled since I first wanted to buy some (but never had the money).

I'd rather buy Rubles, could come in handy when the tanks reach Madrid.
