Just try to play a game every day. It's disheartening at the beginning, but with every game you'll play longer and better. At the end of a game, it is perhaps the most difficult: one has forgotten the place of a piece (or that a piece is still in play), pieces are distant from each other, and one has to focus deeply and to "see" the board to be fully aware of their places. With time, you will remain aware of a bigger part of the board easily -- pawn structure, place of pieces. You will forget less and less moves. Sometimes, you will have to replay the game in your head to remember the place of a piece, but it will become less and less often. Just trust yourself. And don't force yourself. At first, in this game, I was with my eyes closed next to the PC, but then I went to smoke, then have a bite to eat, I thought about my position while drinking a coffee without full "vision". So, rest between moves when you can. Playing blindfold is a combination of vision and logic. All serious players incorporate this type of training into their routine. Korchnoi read games in bulletins, Spassky played a handicap blindfold match against eight opponents before meeting Petrosian, etc. This considerably improves calculation and overall awareness. I keep solving tactical problems, or try to. It'd be nice if you joined ChessTempo, so we can see each other's progress (even if it's negative ).

I was just reading this old thread and thinking that I should start doing what I professed for others. Not today -- I don't feel well, but tomorrow, after a good night of sleep.

Two wise decisions, following your own recommendation and letting an older, wiser version of you follow it trough

Ozy... Wisdom doesn't come with age. You've been put on the wrong path. It's like the saying that tomorrow will be better -- only Scarlet can believe it. No, I just don't feel well today. The weather changed and I had difficulties sleeping last night. But I'll really restart playing blindfold. I know it would go bad because I did some easy tactical exercises today and I had lots of misses.
P.S: Did you try Lichess. Some great contents beside playing games.

Scarlett? Who?
No, I haven't tried lichess. These days I devote all my chess energies at solving a problem, and more days than not, I fail.

Made it to 2100 Glicko rating on Lichess. It should be about 1800 Elo Fide. So far, 1 loss (the first game I played) and 14 wins. I had some kind of fever today and I played another atrocious game, missing several time winning variations and obvious tactical ideas. The worst in this is that I have seen the idea, the continuation, but did not assess the resulting position correctly, and waited for a better chance.
Computer analyses are so depressing. I was not dissatisfied by my game until I switched an engine on.

I did not need an engine to be depressed. I am already married.
