I did not find an adequate subforum, so I shall post here.
I tried chess.com today. It is nice, lots of features, but since I do not have money to pay and unlock most of the features, it remains very limited for me. I saw that my son is a member there (he used my nick, and he sucks at chess, even more than me), but the nice interface excepted... I admit, the free chess.com needs more exploration for an in-depth review, a fact-based opinion, but anyway. I just find it to be the Microsoft, the Google of the chess world. Buying everything, creating a monopoly, than destroying whatever does not fit in its income plan.

I used to play on FIDE's own platform (Mac app version), like 10 years ago. Then switched to PlayChess, which was free for me thanks to the engine room game collecting. Chess.com looks nice, but I have the feeling people aren't very serious around there.

Did you watch all these podcasts, videos, about cheating in online chess? Kramnik recently spoke about it extensively with Chirilla and Caruana.

Never cared about that, if I didn't like a player, for whatever reason, I would simply add him to the "ignore" list. It got to be quite long

At Playchess, you can set your mode as "centaur", letting know your opponent. In over 15 years playing over the Internet, I can recall only one instance of a guy wanting to play against someone with a computer, it was almost at the beginning of that period, he was an IM, and he regretted it

The results in blitz and rapid online competitions on chess.com reveal some troubling results. Centaurchess is obviously not dead yet.

You have a point there, although it's a curious kind of centaur play, when you have to play weaker to let it pass as human play.
