I still cherish these times of flying without smoking.
There is still one thing that I vividly remember from these times: I was always astonished by the craziness of premises, but in awe of the deductive process of my dear colleagues. Of course, the results were also quite... original.
I wish we were able, in linguistics, to think as clearly as philosophers do. We are the masters (of the Universe! not) of circular thinking. Linguistics, today, are mostly a pseudo-science. We keep changing etiquettes without thinking about the essence of our scientific field.
BTW, I am 55. Still young, but oh so old.

The author of the article is Thierry Meyssan. (Most of the authors, btw, are excellent.) Here, I think Thierry makes a mistake: after WWII, one of the objectives of the US was to severe the European West-East commercial relations. It looks like the US try to repeat this plan now, among other things. To put a bit things in perspective: Germany's power, Sweden's wealth were based on Russian commodities between the two world wars. In the last three decades, Germany grew because she developed fertile relations with Russia -- this war is a hard punch on Germany too.
Another tidbit: there is a rumour that France and Jacques Chirac did not support the second war against Iraq because he read Thierry Meyssan's book about 9/11 and ordered the DGS to check Meyssan's assertions, and the rapport he got back was overwhelming. Meyssan had to leave France immediately after because he was in danger of being assassinated, and found refuge in Syria, where he lives now.

Interesting lives. Others content ourselves with ranting on obscure public forums, at times, disagreeing with colleague admins (Chris must have a very long relationship with Ed, because being unauthorized a second time, an now about a very particular issue...).

I marked TSI and Czub as foes, so I don't see their posts. And there were so many I missed Chris being moderated.
Chris is in reality the programmer behind the new Rebel -- while Ed trains the nets, Chris does all the work about programming the learner, the inference code, designing the nets' structure, and he also wrote a modern engine that Ed did not want to use (but it is something I can't check).
BTW, his alias on Rybka forum was Trotsky.

Then... Living an interesting life is... not something I would want. It's much better when it is not interesting.

Well, I blocked them first. Chris seems to have done so too, I guess only Milos gets something out of interacting with them.
The decision Ed overturned was concerning a post by Milos, where he called Azov "nazis" and although Chris was initially OK with it, it got deleted. The logical thing would be to take his moderation powers now, what's the use of having an admin you want to oversee?

Ed's stance is now much more explicit, and he is somewhere between TSI and Thorsten Czub. To quote Milos:
"[...] you don't live in a real world and obviously don't know shit. This level of ignorance for a grown up person of normal intellectual capabilities is completely staggering. These comments make you a laughing stock. Please go back to chess and leave grown ups discussing politics, history, etc."
I fully agree.

Sadly, I'd say he lives in a world which is more real than ours, despite being a lie. At least for the time being. We all know that history is written by the victors, so we'll see what truth is established about current events, some time afterwards.

Ozy, we should not despair [although there are a lot of reason to despair - sometimes I think that evil always wins]. Here also a lot has been done lately to brainwash our children, but these children fight back, even more than we do/did. There is always hope, and Man as a species has not spend all courage and all nobility.

Ozy,
My faculty is a prefabricated building assembled at the place of a pre-war police station, destroyed by a bomb with impoverished uranium. The number of cancer cases in Serbia has risen 37% after the 1999 war (I don't know the % for Kosovo and Methochia). The median life esperance of men is 51. We got used to these things.

51? That's like... sub-shariah level? And some people have the gull to say how well your country was doing since 2000, "despite bad politicians".

It is the median age, Ozy. The average is a bit superior, probably around sixty and a few year more. Half the men die before 51.
I wrote a long rant where I described for you what was my life, our lives in the last 30 years, and then I deleted it -- why should I bother you. But all these people that speak, write about war from the comfort of their armchairs... I don't have words hard enough for them. When I see all these horrible pictures from Ukraine, I hope that Russia will win, win asap, because I know that Russia will help them rebuilt and restart a better live. And I hope Vladimir Vladimirovich will live a hundred years.

"in spite of everything, the temporary agony of being is more valuable than the ultimate void of nothingness." You can't compare two things, when nothing is known about one of them. These kind of statements mean nothing to me. Life has to be valued on its own, which is in stark comparison with everything else, as humans need pairs of opposites to value something. PS: moved some more posts.

I left the ProDeo forum, won't post there anymore and I deleted it from my browser. I showed too much patience there anyway.
